Losing someone is one of life's hardest times. In the quiet days that follow, it can feel almost impossible to find the words — and that is exactly where I can help.
A Humanist or non-religious funeral gives you the freedom to say goodbye in a way that is true to the person and to your family — without expectation, and without a fixed form to follow. It can be gentle and dignified, or a genuine celebration of a life well lived, or anything in between.
I take the time to listen. I sit with you, gather your memories and stories, and write a personal, respectful ceremony that feels honest and unhurried. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is scripted for you — this is your loved one's story, told in your family's words.

I gather your memories and write a personal tribute
From your stories, photographs and reflections, I write a heartfelt tribute that captures who they really were — the whole life, honestly and warmly told.
I lead the ceremony with warmth and calm
On the day, I hold the ceremony with a steady, reassuring presence, so your family and friends are free simply to be together and to remember.
A ceremony shaped around your loved one
Every ceremony is different, because every life is. Together we shape something that feels right for the person and for those who loved them. It might include:
- A heartfelt eulogy telling their story, in their own colour and character
- Readings, poems or music that meant something to them or to you
- A moment of quiet reflection, welcoming those of any faith or none
- Contributions from family and friends, spoken or shared however feels comfortable
- Whatever tone feels right, from quiet dignity to a true celebration of life
I work alongside all funeral directors and am glad to lead ceremonies at any crematorium, natural burial ground, graveside or venue across Scotland — including at short notice, where that is what is needed.
Families are looked after with care
I was honoured to be named a Finalist in the Scottish Funeral Awards 2024, in both Scotland's Best Celebrant and Best Funeral Officiant categories.
